The philosophy initiated by Dr. Ferdinand Lamaze is to implement habituation. The point is that you are familiarized with the practical exercise of intense pain to change in response to contraction. • Bradley Method: The Bradley Method applies a proper diet and exercise to reduce pain during maternity process. This method prepares the muscles for childbirth and muscle for breast feeding. This class is started in early pregnancy because the Bradley method needs to be done for 9 months for physical and emotional preparation for expectant mothers.
• Dick-Read Method: This method is very popular in the United States and began to be introduced since 1940. Dick-Read method combines relaxation techniques with knowledge of the maternity process, namely to break the cycle of tension and pain you will experience. This method also involves the candidate’s father when the mother is entering the maternity process room. These prenatal classes began in the fourth month and conducted by trainers who are certified by Gamper Method (Margaret Gamper was a nurse who inspired the name of Dr. Dick Read when created this method).
